NO VIDEO FROM EXTERNAL DOCK (T630, T630V2, T730)

Modified on Tue, 22 Oct at 9:28 AM

PROBLEM:

No video display from connected external USB-C dock or Dual DP Adapter

POSSIBLE SOLUTION 1:

Please ensure the dock is being plugged into the left side USB-C Thunderbolt or DP enabled port. Driverless docks require Display Port Alt-Mode to passthrough motherboard video signals. The Thunderbolt / DP port on these models is the only port which has this technology enabled.

For T630V2 and T730 models, the USB-C port will have the Thunderbolt Icon

For T630 models, the USB-C port will have the DP Icon

POSSIBLE SOLUTION 2:

Replace the cable to the dock with a cable from a known working system.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION 3:

In Windows Device Manager, ensure that all drivers are loaded, Display Device shows Intel IRIS XE and there are no unknown devices. If needed, proceed to our download site to get the current driver set. Alternately, contact support to request the complete driver set be uploaded via DoD Safe.

Definition:

Alt Mode, or DisplayPort Alternate Mode, is a feature that allows compatible USB-C ports to transmit video and audio signals. It enables the USB-C port to function as a DisplayPort interface, allowing the connection of external displays, such as monitors or projectors, directly to the USB-C port without the need for additional adapters or converters.
